Happy New 2009 Year!…
I am so happy to see 2009 New Year. I hope all of you and your family had a Merry Christmas and welcomed in the New Year.
Well, Long Beach Chapter 2 are so very proud to announce our 2009 Executive Board: Mary Brown, Chapter President; Ava Barker 1st Vice President; Kris Donald 2nd Vice President; Adrianne Rambo Unit “A” VP; Dan Ewaskey Unit “B” VP; Eileen Pina Secretary; Karen Foote Treasurer; Val Pharr Chief Job Steward; Patricia Jackson Site Rep Coordinator; Viola Mae Bledsoe Chapter Public Relations Officer. We are looking forward to a better 2009 year with a full Executive Board ready to serve.
Executive Board met with Superintendent Steinhauser December 9, 2008. During this meeting our leaders were informed district is waiting for Governor to give mid year cuts possibly January 2009. Superintendent advised the Budget Advisory Committee will be meeting January 15, 2009 and CSEA will have 2 members to represent us. More information to come.
2009 CSEA Member of the Year Awards Program – The purpose of the CSEA Member of the Year Awards Program is to promote a greater appreciation of the school employee by you the members-at-large and to honor his or her outstanding service to CSEA. By this, we mean, have you come to chapter meetings, are you a voice in the work place, do you volunteer when the request goes out, do you attend any CSEA trainings, and you must be an active member in good standing of LB Chapter 2. If so, candidates will be considered in the following categories:
Food Services; Maintenance and Operations Services; Paraeducator and Instructional Assistant Services; Transportation Branch; Office Services. Any one interested please contact me (562) 426-6091-1#, there is a deadline date and rules for submitting any nominee.
Being this is a new year, we are asking you to remember to help educate yourself and know your rights.
For the month of JANUARY we have some activities – LB#2 T-Shirt Pre-Sales (continues), Thursday, January 29, 2009 is Chapter Meeting at TRC Rooms A-B-C at 5:15pm.
Let’s have a very Happy New Year and I hope you will make a commitment to come out to our chapter meetings.
